Setting Availability from Mobile

Update your preferred working times directly from the Shifton mobile app so your manager knows when you are available.


What Is This?

The availability feature on the mobile app lets you set and update the days and times when you are able to work, without needing to access the web version. Your manager can use this information when building schedules, particularly with the “By availability” schedule type. Keeping your availability up to date from your phone ensures your preferences are always current.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Accessing Availability Settings

Open the Shifton app.

Navigate to Availability from the app menu or profile section.

Adding Availability

Tap + or Add availability.

Fill in the fields:

Time fromEarliest time you can start working
Time toLatest time you can work until

Tap Save. Your availability is stored and becomes visible to your manager.

Editing or Removing Availability

Tap on an existing availability entry.

Adjust the fields or tap Delete to remove it.

Save your changes.

Example Configurations

Student available weekday evenings:
– Recurrence: Weekly
– Days: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri
– Time from: 18:00 — Time to: 23:00

Weekend-only worker:
– Recurrence: Weekly
– Days: Sat, Sun
– Time from: 08:00 — Time to: 22:00

Temporary availability (summer only):
– Recurrence: Weekly
– Days: Mon–Fri
– Time from: 09:00 — Time to: 17:00
– End date: [last day of the period]

FAQ

Q: Will my mobile availability sync with the web version?
A: Yes, availability is stored centrally. Changes you make on mobile are reflected on the web, and vice versa.

Q: How quickly do changes take effect?
A: Changes are saved immediately. However, if a schedule has already been published, your updated availability will only affect future scheduling.

Q: What does “By Availability” schedule type mean?
A: When a manager creates a schedule of type “By Availability,” the system automatically assigns shifts only during the times you have marked as available. For other schedule types, your availability is a guide for your manager but does not restrict scheduling automatically.

Q: Can I set different availability for different weeks?
A: Use the Biweekly recurrence option for alternating two-week patterns, or set an End date on a record and create a new one for the next period. For one-time changes, communicate directly with your manager.
