Marks are custom colored labels created at the project level and attached to shifts and employees (via the Scheduled Team Members tab when editing a schedule). They are used for categorization and filtering — marks are not a module.
How Marks Work
Marks are created in project settings (Projects → select a project → Marks → + Add mark → name + color → Save). Each project has its own set of marks.
Marks are attached to:
– Shifts — when creating or editing a shift (Marks field)
– Employees — via the Scheduled Team Members tab in the schedule editor
A single shift can have multiple marks. No paid module is required for basic mark usage.
Purposes:
1. Categorization — visually identify the type of work (branch, department, location, special instructions)
2. Filtering — filter shifts on the schedule calendar by mark type
For full activity tracking (templates, Activity Report), the Activity module ($0.50/employee/month) is required.
Configuring Mark Permissions for Employees
By default, only managers and administrators can add marks. To allow employees:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Allow employee to add/delete marks on shift | Employees can add and remove marks on their shifts |
| Allow an employee to edit marks on their shifts | Employees can edit existing marks on their shifts |
After saving, employees need to log out and back in for changes to take effect.
Adding Marks to a Shift
As a Manager
Or when editing a shift: click the shift → Editing tab → Marks field.
As an Employee
If the permission is enabled: open the shift → Marks field → add or remove.
Assigning Marks to Employees in a Schedule
Marks assigned at the employee level in the schedule are applied to their shifts in that schedule.
Using Marks in Filters
On the Schedule page → Filters (left panel) → Select shift marks → choose the mark to filter by.
On the Activity page → Marks filter → select marks to display only matching activities.
Marks and Pay Rates
Marks are a categorization and filtering tool. They do not affect salary calculations and are not linked to rate multipliers. For rate configuration, use Salary Settings.
Marks vs Activity Types
| Feature | Description | Module required |
|---|---|---|
| Marks | Simple labels on shifts | None |
| Activity types | Tasks with scheduling, distribution, and tracking | Activity ($0.50/employee/month) |
